Punters already investing on Japanese runners in this year's feature events in Melbourne (Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup) may be able to receive a refund on their investments.
TAB Sportsbet, who offered inflated odds about the Japanese runners in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, have suspended betting on all the feature races until first declarations are taken on the 11th of September.
While unconfirmed, there is a suggestion that the TAB are considering offering refunds on these particular investments, despite not having any moral reason to do so. While they will be pocketing the investments on the non-runners, they have also laid numerous other horses that will now start at much shorter odds with the withdrawal of many of their main dangers.
However, punters not wishing to wait for such an annoucement can take advantage of a generous offer from Betstar. They are offering TAB punters a free bet in exchange for sending their tickets to the bookmaker. Of course, Betstar will be able to claim a refund from the TAB should such an announcement be made, however, they are taking the risk in the short term should the TAB decide not to proceed with a refund. You will need to complete this transaction before the 11th September to be eligible.
