HARRY FINDLAY PLANS TO LOWER HIS COLOURS IN ROW WITH BHA
Harry Findlay will continue having an ownership involvement with racehorses in Britain but his familiar purple silks, most famously carried by 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Denman, will not be used.

Racemail understands that the owner and professional punter will refuse to allow his colours to be used on a British track while the present regime of chairman Paul Roy, chief executive Nic Coward and head of security Paul Scotney is in place at the head of the BHA.

On Thursday, it was announced that Findlay had succeeded in having a six-month ban for a betting related offence reduced to a £4,500 fine by the BHA's Appeal panel.

Both the BHA rule and its procedures have been widely criticised during a case which was viewed as technical and, by the BHA's own admission, not corrupt. Despite, his appeal success, Findlay has expressed anger and frustration at having to endure a month when his reputation was badly damaged and his honesty questioned.

Much of the anger has been directed at the BHA leadership and his continued involvement in the sport had been in doubt, especially after he severed his link with champion trainer Paul Nicholls.

However, Racemail understands that Findlay will retain a jumps string, headed by Grand National fourth Big Fella Thanks, now with Ferdy Murphy, and including Gary Moore's Bergo.

The pair, along with members of a Flat string spread between George Baker, Mick Channon and Eve Johnson Houghton, will be owned by Findlay's mother Margaret and Sam Sangster, racing in Sam's silks.

Beshabar, switched to Tim Vaughan, and the Flat horses trained by Brian Meehan that Findlay owns with the Sangsters, will race in the silks of that famous racing family.

Despite speculation concerning Findlay's future, it is believed that he could also link up with the Sangsters to buy yearlings to race in 2011.
